FIELD COORDINATOR
Southwest Virginia EMS Council, Inc., is now accepting applications for the position of Field Coordinator. The position is an exempt full-time position. Travel is required with occasional overnight, night, and weekend work. Interested persons should submit a letter of interest, resume, and three references by close of business on March 28, 2008.
JOB DUTIES
The Field Coordinator works closely with EMS stakeholders including EMS providers, EMS agencies, hospitals, local governments, and other emergency and first responder agencies on all issues related to the provision of emergency medical services in the southwest region of Virginia. The Field Coordinator will serve the entire region, but will be assigned primary responsibility within specific localities.
The Field Coordinator will assist with council-sponsored testing and training events, and prior experience with these programs is preferred. Teaching experience should be clearly documented in the application materials. Certification as an EMT-Instructor and/or ALS Coordinator is preferred.
The Field Coordinator will assist in regional EMS planning and coordination and will be responsible for completion of assigned projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
o Current Virginia certification as an EMS provider, ALS preferred, with a minimum of two years field experience as an EMS provider o Bachelor degree from an accredited institute of higher education preferred with a minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and significant experience as an EMS provider (with administrative experience preferred) o Effective oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency o Ability to organize, plan, and implement programs and projects without direct supervision o Completion of a state consolidated testing coordinator training or ability to complete training in the near future o Successful applicant must submit to a criminal background check and drug screening o The Southwest Virginia EMS Council is an Equal Opportunity Employer

Virginia Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services seeks a professional to supervise staff in the administration and coordination of emergency management and disaster preparedness programs for response, recovery and mitigation.
Responsibilities:This position is to set priorities, train subordinates, monitor overall program performance for quality based on goals and objectives; manage grants and analyze legislative or other regulatory impact on service delivery. Manages the Health and Medical Emergency Response Team (HMERT) program and serves in the absence of the Emergency Operations Manager during declared disasters or emergencies.
Skills/Experience:The ideal applicant will have comprehensive knowledge of emergency management and disaster preparedness programs for response, recovery and mitigation; considerable understanding of supervisory principles and project management; strong skills in communication (orally & written); certification as an EMT-Instructor. Must possess a current driver's license.
Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in emergency management or related field with an advanced degree in public health preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Salary:Starting pay range $40,959 to negotiable.

Virginia Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services seeks a professional to perform independent on-site inspections of EMS Agencies, vehicles and personnel for the purpose of licensure and/or certification issuance, maintenance and/or renewal to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and promotion of quality EMS practices.
Responsibilities:This position will provide appropriate guidance and support to all statewide EMS programs through oversight, supervision and liaison activities. Manage and coordinate regional consolidated test sites; review, provide technical assistance and grade grant applications. This is a telecommuting position that requires frequent daily and periodic overnight travel.
Skills/Experience:The ideal applicant will have comprehensive knowledge of emergency health services background. Current VA certification as EMS Advanced Life Support Technician (EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic) required; working knowledge of VA statewide EMS system, emergency healthcare techniques and standards of medical care; ability to communicate effectively, make sound decision and resolve problems; skillful in handling highly sensitive investigations; demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and work independently; skilled in operating a variety of computer equipment and software applications. Must possess current VA driver’s license.
Education:High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience and training required.
Salary:Starting pay range $31,352 to negotiable.
