Applicants for employment will be required to undergo a criminal background check prior to appointment with SWVEMS. SWVEMS will not employ applicants who refuse to execute a release form authorizing the Council to conduct a criminal background check.
Employees may be required to undergo a criminal background check while employed by SWVEMS. Employees refusing to execute a release authorizing SWVEMS to conduct a criminal background check will be subject to termination.
SWVEMS may determine, on the basis of the criminal background check, that an individual is not suitable for employment with the Council and may thereby decline to employ an applicant or terminate, transfer or demote an employee.
The method of criminal background check will be determined by SWVEMS and will be described to applicants and employees at the time the release authorizing SWVEMS to conduct a criminal background check is requested.
